Areas of specialization

SPECIALIZATION

Information Technologies

My main field of expertise. Volumes exceed several million words. I am an expert computer user and have previously worked as a technical writer, creating documents for various systems and solutions - this enables me to understand even the most complex IT concepts and processes. During my 13 years in IT translations I have acquired vast knowledge of IT terminology, basically, I have been in the business from the very formative age of Latvian IT terms, following terminology development and changes. Some of the end-customers I have worked for in  this field are Acer, CyberLink, GemPlus, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Microsoft.

Telecom

In the era of telecommunications and the impetuous growth of the number of communication device users, the availability of high quality, understandable reference material is of vital importance. It has been my pleasure to translate manuals and localize the interfaces of communication devices of such manufacturers as Siemens, Sony Ericsson and Nokia.

Automotive

Since 2003, I have invested a lot of research work in the field of automotive terminology. During this time I have created an outstanding glossary, which I use for reference when translating texts related to the automotive industry. In my career as a professional freelance translator, I have translated dozens of owner's manuals, service booklets and other documents, including manuals for infotainment systems. Here is a listing of some of my end-customers in this field: Bentley, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Hummer, Opel, Saab, Volvo Trucks.

Other

My work is not limited to these main subject fields. I will gladly accept texts of most general subject areas, declining only highly specialized material that is outside my scope of competence. I would like to highlight a few other subject fields that I consider myself to be knowledgeable in: agricultural equipment (grain dryer and processing machinery),manufacturing (documentation for a bio-diesel plant in Latvia), government/politics (EU institutions, Latvian governmental institutions), consumer electronics etc.
